CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Political Science programs are designed to provide students with an understanding of politics, its processes, its theories,
and its institutions. Political science programs are an excellent background for leadership in civic and political activities.
Political science majors take education courses in order to be certified as teachers; others seek employment with
government or private agencies. Political science is considered good preparation for law school, civil service careers at
international, national and local levels of government, or careers in research. This major may also lead to many other
careers. For additional possibilities, check the EUREKA computerized career database, the Occupational Outlook
Handbook, or one of the many other career resources located in the Career and Transfer Center.
